Frequently Asked Questions

On this page find answers to commonly asked questions about ordering, store policies, technical questions related to the shopping cart,  and shipping costs.

Answers where the "shopping cart" isn't referenced refer also to Auctiva Commerce and eBay.

How can I buy from your eBay store or complete an auction since I hate Paypal?

There's a few solutions. You e-mail me and use pick up and pay, but actually I know your sending a check or traditional form of payment. In the event eBay is saying you can only use Paypal - read on.

You can make an offer and if we agree, I pull the listing as if there was an error. Lastly, you can wait and see my discounted eBay lot pages. The items are slashed from 25% to 75% of what the opening bid was. Point is any business is welcomed and whilke I have to comply with policies as to eBay. Traditional payments are just as good and online payment services like Paypal although secure can still be hacked via people clicking on links after thinking an e-mail came from Paypal.

Otherwise, just ask about my site on Auctivacommerce.com or click on the links where auctiva is mentioned since I can take any type of payment there. It will be cheaper for me to sell there and thus, since I save you also will. I don't jack up lots like my competitors even if I'm saving. Stupid if you ask me!

Can I use Paypal although I don't see the icon for your shopping cart?

Yes, After about 1,500 products the shopping cart started to have some problems. Thus, the link to paypal is no longer a function. Simply select

Invoice/Bill Me (Paypal) and state in the notes to seller field your sending payment for multiple items won on sites like eBay and this store. Or just request an invoice and I'll bill you thru Paypal. My e-mail address for paypal is coverkid1@ameritech. Sorry for the problem, computers and software are not perfect.

In the next few months the shopping cart is being scrapped and will be looking at a new alternative. Right now, I recommend Auctiva Commerce if you like shoipping thru an e-commerce storefront and saving.

What shipping method do you use?

Cart uses shipping based upon weight and factors in packaging weight

Do Odd Size Items Cost me more?

Yes, The extra cost is added already factored in to the shipping for my shopping cart. Auctiva Commerce the rates will be added when the order is processed. eBay - the rates will be reflected in the flat shipping totals.

I live in the USA, what should I expect to pay on shipping?

$1.45 is the minimum shipping charge for USA Orders based on First Class Postage

$1.45 would cover up to 1 to 4 Postcards or Covers

Remember shipping Shipping is based upon Weight

$4.95 is for Priority Mail Flat Rate.

Non Priority or First Class is figured to handle shipping up to 44 covers or postcards

B>After 44 cards Priority Flat rates are factored for up to 4 pounds of weight

I live outside of USA and Overseas - What do I pay?

$1.70 Minimum for Canada

$2.00 Minimum for Mexico

$2.45 Minimum for Rest of World

Non Priority or First Class is figured to handle shipping up to 44 covers or postcards

After 44 cards Priority Flat rates are factored for up to 4 pounds of weight

Priority Flat rates for Canada and Mexico are $10.95

Priority Flat rates for USA: $4.95

Priority Flate rates for rest of world: $12.95

How do I know what you charge for shipping?

I made a table showing examples of typical orders I get. All rate info is current as of 2009. These tables appear on my current eBay auction listings and this website.

For auctiva Commerce use calculate shipping. Note: You must order at least $1.50 as to Auctiva Commerce for the shipping rates to appear.

This happens due to the fact, I don't accept any orders under $1.50 for my Auctiva Commerce site. Reason: I can't say only a $1.50 is for payment by Paypal vs. check since the shipping rates are the only way I can state a minimum payment regardless, of how one wants to pay.

I live overseas or outside the US. Can I save on shipping?

Yes, simply notify on the order form/checkout as to a US address and select a USA Shipping option. This is available for all sites I sell on.

Do you offer insurance?

Yes, it's built in as a shipping option for this site and my Auctiva Commerce site (i.e. Priority Mail + Insured). Rates start at $1.75 for $50 worth of coverage. For foreign mail see question for registered mail. If you order close to or over $50, I insure your items free of charge if living in the US regardless of where you bought from. My way of saying thanks.

Do you offer registered mail?

Yes, rate is $11.50 and is a shipping option (i.e. Canada + Registered mail).

For eBay, this service fee will be reflected inb a revised invoice

Do you offer any other shipping options?

In the near future, media mail will be available for books. UPS will be available for games. I'm trying to ship the cheapest and fastest way. Lastly, just ask me and I'll have costs for you within one day. I live only two miles away from the post office and know all the clerks there.

Can I ask for special services besides insurance?

Yes, treat your order like paying by traditional method. Then, I'll send a payment request and.or invoice reflecting the service fee (i.e. Delivery Confirmation) in the shipping total thru, Paypal or reflect it on a modified eBay Invoice. Ask first via e-mail.

Why No Parcel Post?

Parcel Post while cheaper is less reliable from my own experience vs. using priority mail. Have got items in a few days or with the US Post Office Time Frame while others have taken over a month. Often what's saved in cost is a few bucks on heavier items, but mostly it's nickles and dimes.

If you still want it, I'm happy to ship by this method. Just remember, it's not the best method from my nown experience.

What About Customs?

Any item 1 pound or over going to a US possession/trust territory or US Government Agency may be subject to customs (i.e. Military Base)

Foreign shipments of over 1 pound are subject to customs.

No fees are charged for customs. However, you may have to pay duty in your country.

How Do I Order? (Please Read Carefully)

This reers to this website only. Click on Add to Cart Button

If Item/Product requires a choice - Select from the pull down menu (i.e. Available Postcards) then Click Add to Cart Button

When Done Click on View Cart or Go To Checkout Button

Use the Country pull down menu which will begin with United States, then

select from the pull doen menu which will say state.

Make a Shipping Choice, then click on Secure Check Out.

Wait after clicking on Accept Terms and Conditions

Your brower will say Globe Charge (Globe Charge acts as a order processor for this site and is secure)

Now, make a payment choice and fill out your info. On the message to us you can type N/A

If you use Paypal or Google checkout pay using coverkid72@gmail.com

For Auctiva Commerce - Refer to the Auctiva Commerce Page.

Do I have to register on your site to shop?

No. To me companies use this as a ploy to get your e-mail and personal info and thus, resell to a marketting company. Classic example is these websites giving various products away for free.

No need to register on my Auctiva Commerce site either.

Is There a Minimum Order and why?

Minimum Order Info for This Site

Only for electronic payments. If you live in the US and payment was under $10 as to Paypal - minimum purchase would be $1.25.

For Google Checkout Minimum purchase is $1.50, and Money Bookers is $2.

Traditional payments or non electronic transactions (i.e. Check) don't have any minimum purchase requirements since I'm not incurring a processing fee or transaction fees for collecting money. If your ever unsure about traditional payments and your bank allows a free checking with a pay on line service - I'm happy to accept payments made by your bank on ones behalf.

Minimum Order info for Auctiva Commerce. Same terms apply as to this website, except minimum order regardless of payment menthod used is $1.50

Can I still order despite the minimum order policy?

Yes, if you bought various items from the selling venues I sell on. These venues are eBay, this website, and Auctiva Commerce.

Remember the minimum policy only applies to transactions where one pays by Paypal or Google Checkout for this website and Auctiva Commerce. These payments also known as electronic payments/wire transfers.

How do I continue to shop on this site and Auctiva Commerce?

There's multiple ways to do so.

First Remember to Checkmark Show Basket When Adding Items.

If planning to do other things, click on remember my cart.

ontinue Shopping Button returns to last page an item was ordered from

Second Way is to Click on products title at Checkout and return to that products page. Important: *Click on the upper text vs. lower text if the product has a + The + mark indicates the product/item required one to make a choice. Not doing so, will result in not being able to return back to that page/product.

For Auctiva Commerce, just click on add to cart - then click on the link keep shopping seen on the My Cart page. If the My Cart page doesn't show - try once again. Note: Auctiva Commerce is very new and has some very minor issues. You may have to click on checkout to see items added to cart or click Edit Order.

I don't want a product from this site or Auctiva Commerce?

Simply click on the View Cart or Go To Check Out Buttons, then hit delete. Right now, there's no clear cart function so, each item has to be deleted on a one by one basis.

On Auctiva Commerce click on delete or use Clear Cart to delete all items from the My Cart Page. You also can use the edit order button accessed via the checkout link.

I don't remember if I ordered an item? What do I do?

Simply click on View Cart and then click on the product your ordered. If you see a pop up window about the minimum and maximum order amount - then the product/item has already been ordered and thus, is out. The reason for not seeing Sorry All Out is because you have not completed the checkout process. If you selected a product using a pull down menu - you'll see sorry all out next to products ordered.

On Auctiva Commerce you'll either see sorry the product is all out or you won't see the item after adding it to the cart despite clicking on add to cart. If trying to update the quanity - the software will give an error message as to the quantity and thus, prevent ordering.

How Do I know if an item is in Stock?

The shopping cart uses a sophisticated inventory control system which will display an error message or lock one out from ordering. If an item/product is available, you'll see the message Avialibility 1 or Quantity on hand for that item. Items/pruducts having a menu require one to make a choice. If after selecting your product and seeing Sorry All Out - the item is no longer available.

This same type of system is used for Auctiva Commerce except the message of all sold out may not display.

What is inventory control?

A sophisticated way to keep track of items for both buyer and seller. This cuts down from ordering items out of stock and shows the user an item is out. Also, the shopping cart/software disallows an item from being ordered.

Do You Allow Backorders?

No, over 90% of the products/items offered here are one of a kind. This, applies to all sites I sell on.

Why is there a number 1 near each item?

By deafult the shopping cart software assumes that at least one item is in stock. This is also to allow the ordering of multiple quantities. Hence why one would see Availiable 2 for a particular item/product. Rest assure, nothing is ordered or added to cart unless one hits add to cart.

This also is the same method used by Auctiva Commerce after you click on the link or picture vs. add to cart.

I can't see the current inventory for an item. What should I do?

Press F5 on your keyboard or Refresh. Hint: The two Green Arrows by the X mark/Button in Internet Explorer.

This doesn't happen with Auctiva Commerce.

I see Sorry All Out, but have not made a choice via pull down menu. Is everything really out of stock?

The answer is no. The shopping cart uses an inventory control system and thus may display this message. Simply, make a choice from the pull down menu and if you see Sorry All Out, then that means your choice/item is indeed out.

This doesn't happen with Auctiva Commerce.

Company is visiting. Do I have to reorder?

No, the shopping cart software as a box called Remember my shopping cart. Although there's no order placed, you can revist my website within 4 days A small file called a cookie is used to remember your info. Secondly, no one else can order the items you selected. After 4 days items are returned back to inventory and thus, your basket/shopping cart will be cleared.

A similar feature is available for Auctiva Commerce and works similar to this site.

When should I expect to get my items?

It really depends upon the shipping company or postal service. Usually from the time an order is placed in the US and shipped domestically, it's about 1 week at most. Overseas about 10 to 14 days. Please note: These are estimates and vary. Lastly, sometimes it's only a few days. Weather and volume of mail also effect delivery times.

How Do I find Things?

Use the search engine and be sure to type full words vs. relying on abbreviations. Using commas and other punctuation when searching will result in no or very limited results. You may now also type in the catalogue # if known. Always click on more deatils to return to the item/product that may be of interest. See Also Advance Search.

This same method is used for Auctiva Commerce also - except the advance search function on Auctiva Commerce is really nice vs. the search engine used here.

How Do I use advanced search?

Click on Advanced search or Magnifying Glass with + and select products for search within

Search within Product, then limit by Product Title. Lastly, always click on more deatils to return to the item/product that may be of interest

Auctiva Commerce works the same, except the information is alphabetical as to the sub categoiries and presented in an index/tagble of content fashion.

Can I search by catalogue number or unsold eBay lot #?

Yes, just type the eBay lot# in or if know the catalogue number in the shopping carts search engine. Remember to click on more details to return to an item/product page. Note: eBay Lot#s will be called eBaydiscounted1 and so forth.

On Auctiva Commerce a SKU# is used. Use advance search and the catalogue numer is shown next to each item.

For eBay discounted lots there's no catalogue #, but raher the lot# is shown in a table after one clicks on the category name.

How Do I search by Price?

Use decimals ((i.e. for 25 cents you would type 0.25)

Same method is used for Auctiva Commerce.

How do I see an Item/Product after searching?

Click on the Text More Details and allow a few seconds for the page to refresh. If you scrolled past the item. Don't worry the item is on the correct page/category.

For Auctiva Commerce just click on the products title

What payments methods do you support?

I accept Paypal, Google Checkout, Canada Postal Money Orders, Cash at Buyers Risk, Checks, US Postal Money Orders for my website and on Auctiva Commerce.com. For eBay I accept only Paypal due to eBay's October 20th, 2008 policy. However, I'll be happy to make any sale and accept any method as to eBay Paypal Issue.

Do You take scrap US Postage?

Yes, scrap US mint postage may be used to make up odd amounts.

Why don't I go directly to Paypal, Paypal Express or Google Checkout?

This issue only applies to this site.

This has to do with Globe Charge only allowing one payment processing method. In this case, Paypal. GlobeCharge and my shopping cart/shopfactory have a relationship with each other and provide free order processing. Since this site as to the shoping cart has a free SSL Certificate, it's not worth buying into extra services.

Rest assure, I do have Google Checkout. The shopping cart can't keep up with the amount of items being added and therefore links to Paypal had to be taken down to avoid problems as to shipping errors and site/navigation issues.

Have noted payment errors as to the shopping cart overcharging users after the software/shopping cart or store area of my site had sloce to 2,000 items. it's annoying for me also, but not the end of the world!

Can I combine items from eBay or other sites you sell on?

Yes, just treat your order from my store like paying by check or use one of the checkout options. Then, in the message to us via checkout say, please send me an invoice or do a cut and paste as to the payment option you selected.

If not a computer expert (Highlight the text, then hit control C, and then paste it in the Your Note to us by using control V). Invoice will be sent thru Paypal, Google Checkout, or Moneybokers based on the service you selcted.

The other way I can do this is by reflecting your store purchases in the shipping total as it applies to eBay

Can I use a credit Card?

Yes, only thru Paypal, Google checkout, or Money Bookers. I don't have a merchant account due to vary high fees. On your credit card statement it will say either MJMCOVERSPC or MJMCOVERSANDPC for Paypal transactions under $10. This may reflect differently for Auctiva Commerce as to your credit card statement.

What's the latest date for accepting a payment?

All items must be paid within 14 days regardless of purchase venue and payment has to be in US Currency. The faster one pays, the quicker items are shipped.

What happens if I send payment but don't have enough funds?

My bank assesses a $30 Non Sufficient Funds Fee which you will be required to pay. Secondly, you may be blocked and possibly legal action may be taken in the event a fraudulent order is placed.

Electronically, Paypal, Google Checkout, and Moneybookers will use part of your accounts balance before accessing your bank account.

On Auctiva Commerce the software assumes that the buyer doesn't have enough money and displays the last four digits of ones bank account. If the buyer has enough money - the electronic check message will be canceled. In otherwords, your not paying double. Nor can I see what your doing on my end.

How do you handle refunds and payment adjustments?

Items must be returned with 30 days and please mention catalogue # or eBay Lot numbers mentioned in e-mail correspondence. Item Must be shipped back in original manner first shipped. You may also elect for a merchandise credit. Adjusments and refunds will be handled thru Paypal, Google or Moneybookers if a payment was sent electronically. A check will be cut for a refund when traditional payments are used. Exempt are "AS IS" Items and consignments.

What's the process for a buyer dispute?

See webpage/link titled Selling Policies 2009

I didn't insure an item and now it's lost. What's your policy?

Insurance is automatically provided for US Customers when a purchase amounts to $50 or more dollars. Items under $50 are usually not insured unless the total is close to $50. If item lost or damaged in handling, MJM COVERS AND POSTCARDS will not be responsible for uninsured items.

Foreign shipments are covered up to $40 by the United States Postoffice. *This only applies to items undergoing customs and sent by either First Class International or Priority International. Registered mail costs an additional $11.50 and coverage is extended up to $100. Additional insurance is extra.

Finally, I reserve the right to issue a good faith credit when this happens to assure the buyer that I do care about their business.

Why do you keep saying press F5 or refresh on each page?

>P>The inventory system slows the page loading speed and thus, may not show the inventory levels. Other factors effecting this are one's web service, size of the images/pictures, my web hosts server, and the way one connects (i.e. Dial Up vs DSL).

This doesn't happen with Auctiva Commerce on a frequent basis.

I see a triangle with an explanation mark. Why the error?

This happens infrequently and is an issue with one's web host. eBay and other big sites also experience this. The simple way around this is to open a new browser session or exit and restart Windows Explorer or ones browser (i.e. Flock). Then close the window/browser session showing the error. I have seen this error pop up frequently over the weekend between 3:00 to 4:00 AM Central Standard Time.

This issue doesn't occur frequently on Auctiva Commerce.

What is a browser?

Fancy name for the software that allows one to type in a websites address and vist various websites on the Internet. Examples are Apples Safari, Flock, and Internet Explorer.

What is GlobeCharge?

GlobeCharge is a payment processing company that handles the order processing and thus, has an SSL or Secure Socket Layer to prevent hackers. The company never collects one's info and thus, just sends me an e-mail of your order. GlobeCharge handles orders for Fortune 500 companies also.

B>Auctiva Commerce uses there own certificate so, one is always on this site and then goes to paypal. Right now, Google Checkout isn't configure or offereed as an option.

I click previous button and then go back to USA Postcards why?

To be honest, I'm not a computer programmer or website designer and thus, as a default the previous button is assigned to go back to USA Postcards. In the next few months, the shopping cart on this site is planned to be discontinued.

The naviagtion on Auctiva Commerce works better from what I've seen. However, none of these sites are perfect.

How do I see a larger size image?

Click on the small picture also called a thumb nail or the magnifying glass icon with the + symbol. If it doesn't work, try selecting a higher zoom setting from the magnifying glass icon which will be buy the word Internet near where all your desktop icons are. The magnifying glass feature doesn't work with Internet versions 5.0 or lower.

On Auctiva Commerce you don't have to this. Pictures are about 500 by 347 pixels.

What is SSL?

SSL stands for Secure Socket Layer. GlobeCharge and Paypal use the highest level currently available. Various companies issue a certificate for fees and the purpose is to encrypt personal info from hackers.

The weakest protection is called shared.

GlobeCharge assures that it's securring the remote computer.

In this situation the remote computer means my webhost.

The certificate is not issued to me, but like Paypal it's securing the transaction details. Also, there's a padlock icon on the order form stating that GlobeCharge acts as this websites payment processor.

B>Auctiva Commerce works the same way except your staying only on their webpage and Paypal.

If you click on the padlock icon - one will see who issued the certificate and how long it's valid. None of the comapnies i use have poor quality SSL certificates.

How often do you update the unsold/eBay discounted lots?

This takes place every month for auctiva Commerce. I'm no longer doing this for this website.

Anything about eBay Policies?

Yes, refer to Selling Policies 2009. Some of terms/policies overlap with these FAQ questions and answers as it relates to the Items for Sale Link/Store portion of this site and Auctiva Commerce link. In October 2008, eBay tryed to force all sellers to only accept Paypal and Propay.

As of now all types of payments are accept. If you intend to use a check - use Pick Up and Pay and inform me of your intent.

My address is problematic. What's your policy as to eBay and other venues you sell on?

Returned Items due to a problematic address or incorrect shipping info. Examples - One Says A52 after the address (This could mean an apartment, suite, etc.) Zipcodes become problematic for larger cities (i.e. Chicago) - Usually an item doesn't get returned, but it does happen!

How you can help the process along?

Don't group a bunch of letters together for a postal code (i.e. Canada). What may happen is the item gets returned back to me or goes to a dead letter/holding office.

Don't assume the post office is going to know A11 after your street address indicates an apartment for example.

Use the full zipcode - especially is you live in a large city.

Did you Know? Paypal may have your address info wrong so, it's recommended that you e-mail the address to coverkid72@gmail.com when paying for eBay items thru Paypal. The other option is mention it in the notes field Paypal provides.

As a default I use the address info displayed to me thru the eBay site vs. Paypal.

Notify if you moved and didn't have a chance to update your info. Forwarding mail delays the shipping process.

Why don't you mention money orders, checks, or Google Checkout for payment on eBay in October of 2008?

The reason according to eBay is sellers voiced concerns over fraudulent checks and money orders. While this does occur, I personally have never received a bad check in over four years since selling full time.

If I don't comply all my listings have been pulled in the past.

I challenged eBay on not allowing Paypal on purchases under a buck and had 100+ listings pulled.

Needless, to say I'm not challenging them on every listing, but am experimenting for 2009.

Lastly, ebay and Paypal (Which they own) is saying electronic payments are easier to settle. Anything marked with an astrisk on the selling policies for 2009 in the Payment section indicates it's a payment where one has to say to the seller Pick Up and Pay.

Google Checkout eBay doesn't let one use because it's a competitor.

Yet, I see Google Checkout on Stampwants, Delcampe, and others.

I'm on my soapbox, but view a lot of eBay practices as anti-competitive or full of half-truths.

What can I do if taken on shipping charges as to eBay?

As a concern for everyone, I've added this answer. I ship and charge the actual cost and don't surchage for gasoline and packing materials. To me to ship one postcard, it should be under $2 for the USA.

To report the unethical seller cut and paste this link or type this in ones browser http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/listing-shipping.html Then scroll down until you see Contact Customer Service.

Lastly, give the seller the benefit of the doubt since it might be a mistake.

B>Tips (How they pull these scams): First lot has 8 postcards in it and seller says $4.99 for shipping, then you question and he says each additional lot is a buck even though there's only another 4 postcards. Fact, is they can ship all 10 cards in this example for $1.65, not $5.99. In closing, be careful and start reporting these people or just don't buy from them period!

Since eBay uses Pick up and pay?- what's the plan?

First, if you love ebay then one in the future may be forced to get a Paypal account or quit buying or selling on the site. The eBay store is closed and only is brought back during the holiday buying season which runs from October to January.

Reason is not so much the listing fee at a few cents, but final value and Paypal transaction fees.

Now, make it vague to the buyer about whether money orders or checks are accepted and it leads to unnessary questions and in some cases likley lost business.

Then throw in nthe ebay warehousing fee on top of this for unsold items and fact, everything has top be sold for $1 or more, and now you know why I said enough.

Due to this event, all items I don't wish to auction will be sold on Auctiva Commerce for 2009 in a store format.

Incentives for trying out Auctiva Commerce are alreday in place.

Likley, big name sellers will move there also once traffic starts building along with minor quirks being addressed.

Auctiva unlike eBay stores will allow me to send coupons thru, my own efforts vs. eBay dictating how I can market!

Lastly, don't buy into everything you read or hear on eBay. eBay is good at persuassion, but a lot of their marketing to me is misleading and in some cases can cost the seller more. Trick is to take advantage of the freebees and then, say no more! I'm not picking on eBay alone; but am irritated. I see a lot of American corporations pulling all kinds of games with consumers.

What's the condition overall of your items?

Majority of the items offered on my sites are very good to excellent. I don't like using the term new for collectibles unless it's merchandise bought within the last 25 years. Reason, is stuff on eBay and other sites is rarely new. First day covers for example are used vs. new since the object was mailed.

Items that I feel may be scarce or collectible, but in a poor state are sold AS Is on Auctiva Commerce and are fully, 100% returnable on eBay.

Finally, absolute junk in my opinion is given to a resale store in my area which helps families and people in need.

What's the resolution for Scanned images and Digital Photos?

Scans are saved in JPEG format and have a default resolution of 640 X 480 before being resized down to 800 X 600 for Photobucket.

Do you clean up scanned images?

Yes, I use Photo Imapct to streighten and blur the image so, it doesn't appear to have a screen door effect. I don't engage in hidding defects and this, is also why I scan the backs of the collectible unlike the majority of other sellers. If it has a crease, it's mentioned in the description.

Digital photos are not set up using any type of professional lighting/studio set up and are taken with a Canon 12.1 Mega Pixel Digital Camera. I try my best to offer acceptable images, but some are not perfect. Nor, do i do any editting of the image except for photobucket.com resizing the images to 800 by 600 pixels.
