MJM COVERS AND POSTCARDS

 Policies As of 2009:

While this is not fun reading, it should be read once or twice to avoid misunderstandings and common problems.

All sites you see with MJM Covers and Postcards are part of my operation.  Some of the links are outdated and were test venues in an effort to reduce costs and identify new selling venues.

I'm selling currently on Auctiva Commerce, this website until notice is given, and eBay.

While the majority of my policies overlap with this site, eBay, and Auctiva - use the link's below if your questions concern only Auctiva Commerce:

If you don't recall an answer to one of my policies or if your question is specific to shipment and turn around time - Use the FAQ/Help Link provided below:

The eBay Selling Environment as of Mid Year 2009

In October of 2008, eBay forced longer sellers to no longer accept checks or money orders out of alleged concerns over fraud.

Then after March 2009, eBay would allow all sellers to accept any payment, but the seller stated pick up and pay, and thus, could not say I take a personal check also.

Anything I marked with an astrisk means it can't be accepted on eBay as payment. This info is in the section titled Paying.

Free shipping is now a new gimmick which ends in June, but I see eBay bringing it back during the holidays.

Free shipping has not created any major problems, but this page will address these issues as well.

eBay is trying to also trying to get sellers to buy into a third party FAQ system which I already have on this site.

Also, note eBay doesn't want anything to do with Google Checkout or Amazon since ebay views them as a major competitor. Personally, I have mixed feelings.

Moneybokers.com is another payment I can take for eBay.

The link regarding this change is here: http://pages.ebay.com/sell/August2008Update/OtherFAQ/index.html#3

I feel my policies are fair and serve to educate as well.

The most common problem I see is one overpaying for multiple winnings. Hence, why I'm being redundant.

Will be reimbursing payments for multiple purchases for same buyers paying piecemeal vs. waitting and asking for an invoice.

The transaction fees charged by Paypal and other payment processing services cut vastly into offering cheaper prices on collectibles. This is a new addition for 2009.

Scroll down to see all my policies as to this site and eBay.

Please note some of these policies also overlap terms set forth for my shopping cart.

Shipping Information as of 2009*:

*Subject to Change without Notice.

USA SHIPPING Methods

  1. First Class for items Under 1lb for USA (US ONLY)
  2. Parcel Post is available (US Only)
  3. Bound Matter/Perodical Rate (US Only) - Only Books/Magazines Can Be Sent
  4. Priority Flat Rate Pak for US Purchases of 13 Ounces and up to 4 LBS. - Rates start at $4.80 for USA
  5. Priority Mail Flat Box Rate (If I can send your lot cheaper than using an $10.35 Box, I'll do it and advise!)

FOREIGN SHIPPING Methods

  1. First Class International for lots up to 4 Pounds or 64 Ounces
  2. Priority International Shipping for Over 4 Pounds (Note: Shipping is High)
  3. If you have a US Address - I don't have any problem sending it (*Prior Notification must be made)
  4. Cost could well be over $20 compared to $10.80 for sending a bigger lot by flat rate mail here in the US!
  5. Shipping to another Foreign address despite paying from another country.  This is up to my discression, but no items over $10 will be shipped other than to your address unless of course we have done a large volume of business. Reason: Is fraud.

* At my discression, and this is a service I'm now providing for repeat buyers living overseas, but you need a legal address here in the US.

COMBINED SHIPMENTS

1.  All items must be paid within 14 Days regardless of purchase venue.

2. Only the shipping charge/postage is applied.

3. Yes, you can combine eBay, store and  other auction venue payments. **But request an invoice first to avoid overpaying on shipping

4. Refer to refunds to avoid overpaying for multiple winnings.

5. How Do I pay for items in this store,  your store on Auctiva Commerce and from auction sites you may sell on besides eBay?

    1. First state your paying by check and then send an e-mail to coverkid1@ameritech.net

    2. A Bill/Invoice then will be sent thru Paypal or Google Checkout and will be marked Service.

    3. Use the pick up and pay option for eBay. I know you want to send payment by mail already.

**Adjustments will be made to the invoice generated thru ebay or Paypal  to refect a lower or higher shipping total based on weight and items won.

**The most efficient and not the cheapest shipping method available will be used to figure your rate.

**If this is a problem, let me know and I'll be happy to use Parcel Post vs. Priority Mail for example.

For additional info on the shopping cart - click on shipping cart terms

Important ask for an invoice vs. relying on automated invoices from auction sites!

**Easiest Way To Avoid the Problem is to Wait and Request an Invoice.

Why:

*Ebay's system only shows the results for up to 45 days, however they have been known to not allow a seller to group items. This leads to unnessary paperwork and questions about why the shipping costs were so high. I group your winning lots and reflect the amount via in the shipping total.  Also, eBay does makes errors by not sending invoices, although this is rare. Other sites alos have likley time frames also!

**Request an Invoice when Multiple Things are Won. (In the example below - I'll be using a USA Transaction)

Let's say you win two postcards. Ebay or Auction Site will say $2.50 postage. Truth, is it's only $1.45 cents to ship.  Reason for site descrepancy is the shipping amount for each additional item gets added. Ebay doesn't let one do weight by shipment which creates this situation.

Secondly, various lots weigh different amounts and packaging has been figured in.  Let's say you won a lot of 100 covers and it's $4.95 Priority Flat Rate + another lot of 10 cards with shipping for those being $1.30. I can save you the $1.30 and ship the whole lot by Priority Mail.

Lastly, eBay sometimes makes errors when they update their site. A foreign buyer for example will see domestic shipping rates.

Free Shipping Policy For USA Buyers as to eBay (Applies only when the site runs this promotion.)

  • Free shipping is exempt for international buyers.
  • Yes, you still get free shipping up to 10 Ounces in weight even if you bought two lots and let's say one lot didn't offer free shipping.
  • No, you can't combine eBay free shipping with my Auctiva Commerce site or items bought here.
  • If the items are over 10 Ounces and some had free shipping, what I'll be doing is splitting shipping 50/50.
  • No, use of additional coupons can be used. Coupon codes are for Auctiva Commerce only.

Not Responsible Policy:

  • Insurance is automatically  provided for US Customers when a purchase amounts to $50 or more dollars.
  • Items under $50 are not insured and if lost or damaged in handling, MJM COVERS AND POSTCARDS will not be responsible.
  • Foreign shipments are covered up to $40 by the United States Postoffice. *This only applies to items undergoing customs and sent by either First Class International or Priority International. Registered mail costs an additional $11.50 and coverage is extended up to $100. Additional insurance is extra.
  • Returned Items due to a problematic address or incorrect shipping info. Examples - One Says A52 after the address (This could mean an apartment, suite, etc.) Zipcodes become problematic for larger cities (i.e. Chicago) - Usually an item doesn't get returned, but it does happen!
  • Paypal may have your address info wrong so, it's recommended that you e-mail the address to coverkid72@gmail.com when paying for eBay items thru Paypal.  The other option is mention it in the notes field Paypal provides.
  • Lastly, you do have buyer protection under Paypal, so take advantage of it. I'll be happy to work with you to resolve any situation.

Refunds:

AS IS Items stated as such via the description are not returnable.  I don't leave this up to intrepretation or assume one knows. This is mentioned right after the items description.  As a buyer also, I don't like the assumption or looking all over one's listing to find this info.

Buyer has Thirty Days to send item back from the time item is received.

Refund policy applies to items bought here and any venue I sell on (i.e. eBay).

Item must be returned in the original matter sent. MJM Covers and Postcards doesn't reimburse for extra services like Delivery Confirmation.

Full cost of the original purchase plus your shipping will be refunded. No restocking fee.

Item will be reimbursed in the original matter paid. Important: For Paypal you must click accept to receive the refund.

Shipping and Handling Refunds when payment is thru Paypal

Ask for an invoice when paying for multiple items

Why: EBay has default shipping rates which cause this problem.

I reimburse for overpaying on shipping when I see this error.

My shopping cart on this site uses actual shipping weight and factors the packaging materials in advance to avoid this problem for orders up to 4 pounds for foreign and 8 pounds for USA.

No transaction fees for Paypal or Google Checkout as to items bought on this site, but minimum purchase of $1.50.

Paying:

Payments - What's Supported?

  •    Check Drawn on A US BANK (Example: Bank of America in Auckland, NZ would be Okay)*

  •   Money Bookers
  •   Google Checkout* Only For Bank Accounts registered with a US Bank (i.e. Citibank in Auckland, NZ is fine)
  •   Bank Draft* which is supported by a US Bank

  •   US Mint Postage for lots $2 or under and to cover odd amounts (i.e. 10 cents)
  •   Euros if purchase is $100 or more
  •   Credit Cards thru Paypal, Google Checkout, and Money Bookers (I don't have a merchant account )
  •   Non US Currency* (Only if the transaction is $100 or over - Prior Notification must be Given).

Bounced Checks - Subject to $30 Fee. You'll also be reported to eBay or the auction venues I sell on if the issue isn't resolved within 30 days!

*Again, can only accept traditional payments as to eBay. Contact me outside eBay at coverkid1@ameritech to discuss payment and I'll mark it off as if you used Paypal.

WHY NO MERCHANT ACCOUNT?

Merchant accounts are for large volume sellers and are costly.  On top of a service like Authorize.net there's transaction fees for processing the credit cards and for equipment.  It's also a marketing gimmick since firms like Paypal and Google Checkout will process peoples credit cards.  Bottom line, is if these firms can make money and it can be done electronically, they will.  This also one of the reasons why you don't see some stores accepting American Express.

Non-Paying Winner/Buyer Policy:

  1. User will be blocked from any place I sell on
  2. User will be reported to eBay or site they bought on, and also will be blocked from here
  3. Additional action may be taken (This may include Legal Action)
  4. If there's an error due to an item not being found, a message from eBay will say we agreed not to complete sale.
  5. When it's my error - your feedback on eBay is not affected, also you can still shop with me.

Dispute/Resolution Process:

  1. Report the problem and I'll work with you.
  2. If nothing can be resolved, Paypal and eBay will be Notified
  3. Depending upon their decision - I'll honor it
  4. I will not respond to multiple e-mails when Paypal and eBay have already been notified whether it's on my end or yours.
  5. Items not in stock or if not found while processing orders will be credited back to your Paypal Account or a check issued on my behalf via my bank for the descrepancy will be sent.
  6. You may also elect for a merchandise credit towards any site I sell on.

Ask a Seller a Question Policy:

  1. Question must be related to the listed item and site must be referenced.
  2. Only use Ask Seller A Question if it's related to an eBay lot listing.
  3. Use coverkid72@gmail.com for questions related to eBay, but not for any particular item listed

Computer Data/Records Policy:

Online security when shopping and collecting information is a major concern.

MJM COVERS AND POSTCARDS only stores data as for generating shipping labels and form letters via Microsoft Office applications. I also use this info to make you aware of promotional offers thru my shopping cart. My shopping cart uses the latest encryption software with a Secure Socket Layer; commonly known as a SSL Certificate which is adminstered thru Globecharge. Thus, any personal info and financial data is only shown to you and not me when an order is placed. I currently don't process credit cards on my site for several reasons.

Your contacted thru eBay when an item is won and after to inform you about my Auctiva Commerce site.  If you rather not receive any e-mails about how to save, drop me an e-mail and I'll take you off my list.

I never send second chance e-mails thru my own account, but rather thru eBay.

I get your e-mail addresses thru eBay, when you order on my sites, and thru, Paypal.

Credit card payment is handled via Paypal which is secure and is backed up with Verisign. Verisign is owned by Paypal/eBay. Your credit card company also has policies in place to protect one as to items not being received and so, forth.

Your welcome to say don't use my e-mail for marketting purposes, but you will be missing out on offers. I also don't sell or engage in data brokering of any sort.

Why no Shipping Discount on eBay?:

The reason: a discount offered by other sellers isn't really a discount!

How so, and My reasoning.

Example: You buy two lots which have one cover in them. The first lot costs you $1.00 for shipping. Next item for shipping is 25 cents, and then each additional item a quarter. The fact is the three covers could of been sent for $1.25 - not $1.75.

As of 2009, you likley will get a suprise discount as to my repeat buyers. I really enourage you to check out the Auctiva Comnmerce site and have the best of both worlds.
